Nairobi City Stars have been handed a shot in the arm ahead of their midweek match against Wazito FC following the timely return of their dependable midfielder Peter 'Pinchez' Opiyo.
The 30-year-old midfielder was away from the team for the past two weeks as he undertook CAF D coaching course at Thika, missing the matches against Sofapaka, KCB, and Mathare United.

Ahead of the Wednesday clash, Opiyo has been included in the team's 20-man squad set to do duty at Ruaraka Grounds, being the only change to the team as he takes up the place of captain Anthony 'Mukki' Kimani who is rested, according to the club.
In his absence, City Stars picked their first win of the season as they beat Sofapaka 2-1 at Kasarani Stadium, but they lost to KCB despite a spirited fight before bouncing back with their second win of the campaign against Mathare United.
Speaking about his stride towards venturing into the coaching world, Opiyo revealed that it has always been his ambition to become a coach, adding that with the dynamic changes in the game there is need to get the relevant knowledge first.
"I decided to start training as a coach because it’s essential to our football. And it starts with paperwork. It has always been my ambition to become a coach. In my playing career, I have gone through many coaches many of whom did very well and I always admired their work.
What about those two finishes from the evergreen Peter 'Pinchez' Opiyo🔥#NairobiCityStars #FKFPL

When this opportunity came by I decided to go for it to expound on my view of football. The game is now very dynamic and wide, and a lot has changed. It’s important to grasp the new methodologies so as to guide the future generations with the most up-to-date skills.
I have come to the realization that we did a lot of wrong things back when we were starting out and invited career-threatening injuries because most of those that coached us then did not have the right knowledge on how to handle the youth. It is only by the grace of God that we survived it all and that’s why we are still in the game,” he said as quoted on the club's website.
