Three matches into the new season, the club has yet to win a league match, and they have not scored a goal in the league.
Struggling FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards have been handed a timely boost by the return of lead striker Victor Omune from injury way ahead of schedule.
Last month, the attacker announced that he was set to be sidelined for four months after receiving recommendations that he go under the knife to rectify a niggling problem.
"Unfortunately, I’ll miss the start of the season with a knee injury, and I’ll be out for close to 4 months, as the doctors have said, but I believe I’ll be back better and stronger. Thanks a lot for the love," the player posted on social media in August.
In the latest development, he will now not undergo the procedure and has resumed training with the rest of the squad in readiness for the weekend’s league match against Kenya Police FC.
Mozzart Sport understands that the player sought a second medical opinion and was advised against undergoing surgery after the pain in his knee subsided.
This is a welcomed boost for Ingwe, who are currently struggling in the league. Three matches into the new season, the club has yet to win a league match, and they have not scored a goal in the league.
This has resulted in calls for coach Tom Juma’s sacking from a section of the fans. Saturday’s barren draw saw fans at the stadium express their discontent with the team’s performance this campaign and call for the coach to be axed.
On Wednesday, however, the club released a statement backing the coach. They called on the fans to be patient with the Juma-led technical bench. Next for the Leopards is an away match against Kenya Police FC on Saturday afternoon.
