The Harambee Stars winger netted the decisive goal in the second half, sealing the Soldiers' fourth league win of the calendar year and their seventh this season.

The result came as a welcome relief for the four-time FKF Premier League champions, who have been battling to claw their way out of the relegation zone.

“It was a good win; we needed this after a long stretch without a league victory,” said Muchiri, his face beaming with satisfaction.

“We’ve been through tough times as a team, but this result is a turning point. We are glad we finally got the job done,” he uttered.

Muchiri’s strike not only handed Ulinzi Stars the bragging rights in the fiercely contested Disciplined Forces Derby but also breathed new life into their campaign.

Prior to the match, Ulinzi were teetering dangerously close to the drop, hovering just four points above bottom-placed Nairobi City Stars.

The Soldiers have endured a turbulent season under head coach Danstun Nyaudo, marked by inconsistency and an alarming struggle to convert performances into points.

But Friday's victory offered a rare moment of reprieve, injecting fresh confidence into a side desperate to avoid slipping into the National Super League (NSL) as they moved seven points clear of the danger zone.

Muchiri was quick to dedicate the hard-fought win to the club’s loyal supporters, who have stood by the team through its challenging period.

“I am truly grateful for the support of our fans. They have remained dedicated and loyal despite our recent struggles.

They deserve to smile again, and we are proud to have delivered a performance they can celebrate,” he added.

Looking ahead, Ulinzi Stars will seek to build on the momentum when they face AFC Leopards on Wednesday, 23 April, in a rescheduled league fixture.

Ingwe, themselves reeling from a recent defeat to Posta Rangers, will be under pressure, offering Ulinzi an opportunity to capitalise on their opponent's vulnerability.
