Bayern's new boy hopes Sommer leaves. Not because of competition, but because of lucky number

So far, Bayern has announced two new signings in this transfer window: Raphael Guerreiro from Borussia Dortmund and Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig, with both arriving as free agents.

For Guerreiro, the Bundesliga champions recently announced his new shirt number: the Portuguese will wear the 22, previously worn by Manchester City's loan player Joao Cancelo. Laimer, on the other hand, doesn't have a new number yet - because he's still waiting for a teammate to leave?

The Austrian had the number 27 at all of his previous stations in Liefering, Salzburg and Leipzig, which is also his birthday. But the problem: At Bayern, the number 27 shirt is currently used by Yann Sommer. The Swiss goalkeeper came in January because of Manuel Neuer's injury, and opted for the high number. In Sommer's case, it's currently not clear how things will continue: He definitely wants to play and not sit on the bench behind Neuer.

However, it may be a little longer than expected before the Bavarians' captain is fully fit after his broken leg and lengthy rehab. It is possible that Bayern will only let Sommer leave when Neuer is fully fit.

Recently there were rumours that Inter Milan wanted Sommer to succeed Andre Onana should the Cameroon international sign for Manchester United.

In any case, Laimer must first wait for his favourite number until Sommer leaves - or, rather, IF he leaves.
