The Bavarians smashed Wolfsburg 8-1
In the last two Bundesliga games, Bayern Munich had an easy schedule and played with teams who are deep into relegation battle. So when Wolfsburg, who are only three points above relegation came to Munich today, their players and fans thought that maybe they could surprise the league leaders just like Mainz did. The last-placed Bundesliga club was leading 2-1 at Allianz Arena before Kane got the penalty and saved his club from embarrassment. Whatever they hoped for, the visiting players didn‘t get it, as they scored an own goal after just five minutes. When that happens against Bayern, there is no going back. Things got ugly by the 90th minute and when the game was over, the score was 8-1 for the Bavarians.
Vicent Kompany‘s men continued their terrific form today as well and this time, Harry Kane scored ‘only‘ one goal, increasing his total score to 20 goals, while Olise with a brace (and an assist) and Luis Diaz with one goal (and two assists) moved to the second and third place at the Bundesliga scorer‘s list with nine apiece. This was Bayern‘s biggest win since the start of the season in all competition, after 6-0 against Leipzig in August 2025. Their goal difference is also unreal: +51! This was another game in which Michael Olise shined. In his 50th Bundesliga appearance, the Frenchman scored a goal and assisted, which was his 24th assist. No other player on record (since 2004-05) has provided as many assists in their first 50 Bundesliga games.
Bayern‘s coach didn‘t even bother to rest Olise or Kane, and took them out 15 minutes before the end even thou the game was already over by then. Bayern have the best record after 16 games in Bundesliga history, while Wolfsburg, with only 15 points so far is their second-worst total in their history. The Bavarians also like to play against Wolfsburg, as they defeated them 45 out of 56 games.
The guests started the game with an unlucky own goal in the fourth minute but made it up in the 13th, when Pejcinovic equalized. Unfortunately for the visiting fans, that was it from their team. Goals just kept coming and Luis Diaz got the home team another lead after half and hour. The cannonade continued in the second half, when Guerreiro, Kane, Olise, and Goretzka managed to get on the score sheet, while Wolfsburg scored their third goal of the game in the meantime, but on the wrong side of the field. With two own goals, the visiting team just destroyed themselves even more.
