Bayern go winless for the first time in four months, and Dortmund didn't use that
Reading Time: 6min | Sat. 08.11.25. | 19:37
Goals in stoppage time — Bayern leveled against Union Berlin through Kane to make it 2–2, while Dortmund squandered their lead and drew 1–1 with HSV
It was expected that both Bayern and Dortmund would meet expectations and secure two comfortable wins — however, Union Berlin and HSV had other plans. Harry Kane rescued Vincent Kompany’s team, while Dortmund let their lead slip away in the final second.
In the German capital, Union Berlin showed no fear from the very first minute, pressing high and immediately looking for a goal. After two early blocked shots toward Manuel Neuer’s net, the hosts thought they had taken the lead in the 9th minute when Ansah headed home following a corner and some chaos in Bayern’s box. However, after a VAR review, the goal was ruled out for offside.

Their persistence paid off in the 27th minute — this time the goal stood. After another corner, Danilho Doekhi struck directly toward goal, and although his shot wasn’t particularly powerful, it slipped under Neuer’s arm and into the net, giving Union a deserved 1–0 lead.

Union continued to threaten, and in the 31st minute Ansah tried his luck from the edge of the box, but Neuer gathered the shot comfortably.
Then, in the 38th minute, Bayern equalized in spectacular fashion. Luis Diaz chased down a loose ball on the left wing, slid to recover it, dribbled past a defender, and from an almost impossible angle smashed it into the net for 1–1.

Union nearly capitalized again in the 44th minute after a rare Neuer mistake, but the German goalkeeper recovered just in time to stop Ansah’s effort. Moments later, Bayern launched a swift counterattack — Harry Kane released Diaz in behind the defense, yet the Colombian’s finish went well wide of the target.
The second half in Berlin continued at a lively pace, with both teams creating chances and pushing for the lead. In the 58th minute, Janik Haberer found himself in a promising position at the edge of the box and struck the ball on the volley, but his effort flew over Manuel Neuer’s crossbar.
Just two minutes later, Bayern came close through a well-worked move. Joshua Kimmich threaded a precise pass to Michael Olise on the right flank, and the winger tried his luck with a sharp shot toward the near post, only for Union’s goalkeeper to make a strong save and keep the game level.

As the half wore on, Bayern increased their pressure, and in the 71st minute Leon Goretzka created a good opportunity for himself with a clever dribble, but his shot also sailed high above the goal.
Union, however, refused to back down and were rewarded in the 83rd minute. Following a free-kick, the ball bounced kindly to Danilho Doekhi inside the area, and the Union defender made no mistake—firing past Neuer to make it 2–1 and securing his brace of the evening.

On the other side, Borussia Dortmund controlled possession for the opening fifteen minutes, patiently building their play but without creating any real danger in front of Hamburger’s goal.

In the 18th minute, Nico Schlotterbeck came close after meeting a corner with a strong header, but his effort flew just over the bar. Two minutes later, Yussuf Poulsen tested Dortmund’s goalkeeper with a low, driven shot from distance, yet it was comfortably saved.
Emre Can then tried his luck from range in the 22nd minute, but his attempt sailed well over the crossbar. Shortly after, Serhou Guirassy struck a powerful free-kick from mid-range, only to see the ball soar high above the target.

The visitors had their best chance in the 35th minute when Carney Chukwuemeka found space inside the box but wasted the opportunity, firing well over from a promising position.
Hamburger responded late in the half, and in the 39th minute, Nicolas Capaldo came inches away from breaking the deadlock—his strike from around 11 meters rattled the crossbar.

Borussia Dortmund began the second half with more purpose, controlling possession and gradually increasing the pressure on Hamburg’s defense. In the 57th minute, Pascal Gross made a fine run past his marker but failed to hit the target, sending his shot from the edge of the box over the bar.
The breakthrough finally came in the 64th minute. Following a corner, Ryerson’s volley from the center of the pitch was blocked by Vuskovic, causing chaos inside the box. Gross regained possession and sent in a precise cross, which Schlotterbeck managed to flick upward toward Carney Chukwuemeka. With a quick turn and clinical precision, the midfielder fired a right-footed shot from around 13 meters into the bottom-right corner, giving Borussia a 1–0 lead.

Hamburg responded bravely and came close to equalizing in the 77th minute. Glatzel latched onto a clever through ball from Lokonga after Gross’s misplaced pass, stretching to poke the ball toward the bottom-right corner. However, Gregor Kobel reacted brilliantly, diving low to deny the striker and preserve Dortmund’s advantage.
In the final minute of stoppage time, Dortmund lost everything they had worked for throughout the match. Miro Muheim delivered a precise cross into the penalty area, where Ransford Konigsdorffer was waiting. He rose high and powered a header into the bottom-right corner, leaving Gregor Kobel with no chance to save it. 1–1.
