The respective lineups had already been announced before the news of Garcia's death reached the public. According to DAZN, the tragedy occurred at the team hotel. That left all the Blaugrana players, coaching staff, and all associated with the club in a state of shock. Therefore, the club immediately requested that the fixture be called off.
The Osasuna coaching staff and several thousand fans were seen at the venue, but they left the stadium after the postponement was officially announced.
