Bandari interim coach John Baraza was happy with his team’s display in the 1-0 win over the AFC Leopards on Sunday at the Mbaraki Sports Club and believes they executed their plan well.
Baraza, who just over a week ago was elevated to the position of temporary coach, started his reign with a win over a limping Leopards.
He succeeded Twahir Muhiddin, who stepped down from his role after the 2-0 loss to Bidco United.
Derrick Nsimbabi’s strike shortly after the restart helped the dockers pick up maximum points in what was Tomas Trucha’s first assignment as Ingwe boss.
In an interview, an elated Baraza was full of praise for his troops, saying they implemented their plan well and deservedly picked up maximum points from the match.
“I am happy; we had a short time to prepare for the game, and I am glad that we got the three points. We played well, players implemented our plan well, and I think we were deserved winners,” he stated.
Baraza was appointed as Muhiddin’s assistant before the start of the season and will be seeking to do well in the coming games and hopefully convince the dockers’ hierarchy that he is the right man for the job.
Next for Baraza and his troops is an away game against league leaders Posta Rangers.
The win over Ingwe extended Leopards’ winless streak this season to seven games, and only goal difference prevents them from going to the bottom of the log as they have the same number of points (4) as bottom-placed Sofapaka, who got their first win of the season on Saturday against Kenya Police FC. Ingwe is the only winless team in the league at the moment.
Next for Ingwe is an away game against Nzoia Sugar FC at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.
