Not much of an action in a goalless draw of the two European powerhouses who showed up with their strongest lineups
Ten or fifteen years ago, it would be a clash of the titans. In the meantime, Rossoneri descended into mediocracy, but still the encounters of Real Madrid and Milan attract atention.
Even when they are just friendly ties, like today's game played in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt in front of 30,000 fans.
A goalless draw probably disappointed most of them. Still, Carlo Ancelotti and Stefano Pioli can be satisfied with the commitment and seriousness they showed in the last test before the new season begins. Gareth Bale had the most prominent chance to score, but Milan keeper Mike Maignan denied his penalty near the end of the first half.
The rest of the game was pretty chaotic. The intensity seemed to depart alongside the subbed players. Other than a great Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid's keeper that came in instead of Thibaut Courtois) save to deny Brahim Diaz from a distance - it was a forgettable second period.
