Bilbao won the derby against Cholo Simeone's side (2-0) mostly thanks to superb Inaki Williams
Quite similar names, the same red and white shirt colours, and the underdogs' status compared with the Spanish giant duo Barca-Real. That's the story of Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid, who battled tonight at the San Mames stadium. And despite Diego Simeone's team being ten points clear of the rivals on the La Liga table, the Basques fought bravely and reached a deserved 2-0 victory.

The credit for that goes to a magnificent Inaki Williams, one of the most remarkable players in the entire La Liga, whose unique life journey was brought to you recently by our reporters.
Firstly, he was to blame for the early opener, as he found a pocket of space on the left and seized the opportunity to fire on Oblak's goal. The ball deflected, hitting Hermoso on its way and ended in the back of the net.
If that first was a result of luck, then the second one, officially assigned to Williams, was his 100 per cent. It came from the spot after Iker Muniain was trumped on the very edge of the box in front of referee Matheu Lahoz.
Williams' execution was coldblooded, leaving Oblak with no chance of stopping it and saving his side from a deserved defeat.

In the last six league games, Simeone's warriors scored only two goals, making it twice as hard to stay in the battle for UCL spots. On the other hand, Bilbao are getting really close to playing UEFA Europa Conference League or maybe even Europa League.
