As if he didn't miss a day

Spurs custodian Guglielmo Vicario was the Man of the Match in a 1-0 win against Man United in his first appearance after being sidelined for 84 days due to a severe ankle injury and proved his utmost importance for the London side

After missing a longer period due to injuries, players usually need some time to adapt and get back on track. However, if a particular convalescent is Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, no adaptations are necessary. Just give him the jersey and his gloves, and let him shine.

The Italian has been sidelined since November 23 and a crushing 4-0 victory over Man City at Etihad, when he played an hour with a broken ankle and kept a clean sheet. For 84 days, Vicario has been waiting to return and finally awaited the opportunity yesterday in another derby, only against the other Manchester giants.

Still, both the outcome and his performance were the same - Spurs noted a clean-sheet triumph, while the 28-year-old put in a stellar display, which earned him a Man of the Match award! Vicario collected six saves and helped his team keep the first clean sheet in the Premier League at home since August 24!

Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho (on multiple occasions), Diogo Dalot, and Casemiro all tried to outsmart the keeper, but all their attempts were futile. Vicario was in the zone, representing an insurmountable obstacle for the Red Devils.

A difficult period is behind Spurs, and a challenging one awaits them, but at least now they have one thing less to worry about. Their hero between the posts is back, and it's as if he didn't miss a single day. Vicario is Tottenham's Secretary of Defence and a captain without an armband.
