Arsenal's kid is gone: Monaco sign Balogun

The French club paid 30 million in cash for the youngster

It's hard sometimes for young guys when big clubs send them on loan for minutes in smaller environments, but Folarin Balogun got the most out of it. This time, he did it both for himself and for the club. The 22-year-old American national team member officially signed for Monaco, who had to give a large sum after Balogun's excellent season in Reims. He played 37 games there and scored 21 goals, but still failed to attract the attention of Mikel Arteta. But that's why Monaco, which lost forward Kevin Volland (left for Union Berlin) and Breel Embolo (absent for months due to a knee injury) was very interested in the player.

So interested, that they will pay 30,000,000 euros to the Gunners, and they could add another 10,000,000 in various bonuses to that sum. On top of that, Arsenal will also keep 17.5 percent of the next sale of Balogun. It seems that still sporting director Edu values the player after all, since he insisted on that clause. Or he just expects money since Monaco is more than capable to sell it's best players for huge sums of money. The player himself signed a five-year contract, as he did not want to waste time on Arsenal's bench. In London, he played only two games in the Premier League, a total of 10 matches for the first team.

The future therefore lies with Monaco, who have already brought in Denis Zakaria, Mohammed Salisu, Wilfried Singo and Philipp Kohn this summer. With this fixed part for Balogun, Monaco's spending on reinforcements has jumped to 80,000,000 euros. Only for Axel Disasi, who went to Chelsea, they eaerned 55,000,000 and is again, after the first three rounds, first in the Ligue 1 table.
