Arsenal doesn't give up on Mudryk: Gunners raise the offer to 70 million

Reading Time: 3min | Fri. 13.01.23. | 11:02

The North London club doesn't want their rivals Chelsea to disrupt the potential transfer

The flirtation continues, the love is mutual. Mykhailo Mudryk continues to send hidden messages to Arsenal with his posts on social networks, determined to lift the Gunners jersey by the end of the transfer window. And the North London club has responded to the ‘flirtation’ of the Ukrainian winger. It’s obvious that the "love" is mutual, which is confirmed by the new, second offer from the Gunners that went to Shakhtar.

Arsenal's interest in Mudryk has been ongoing since last summer, however, the English club took concrete steps only recently. At the end of December, the Gunners sent the first official offer (40 + 20 million euros), which was flatly rejected by the club from Donetsk, and as the city rival Chelsea recently joined the story (and they have a tendency to buy everything that moves on the market), the Gunners management decided to accelerate negotiations and finish the job as soon as possible.

Therefore, they decided to raise the stake at the Emirates. Fabrizio Romano claims that on Thursday evening Shakhtar received a new offer from the London team: 70 million euros fixed, plus bonuses. There is still no agreement, but according to the mentioned source, the negotiations are progressing well, and the two parties are currently discussing the new offer and the mentioned bonuses. Chelsea, on the other hand, has not yet sent an official offer, just like in the Enzo Fernandez case. They also ‘stirred the water’, but never sent an official offer to Benfica. Still, the Gunners don’t want to risk anything.

When it comes to the player himself, Mudryk will not hold back, he wants a transfer to Arsenal and has already agreed to the terms offered to him, and we should expect the negotiations to unfold in the coming days. Should Shakhtar give the go-ahead, the quick-footed 22-year-old will become the second most expensive signing in Arsenal's history. At the top of the list is Nicolas Pepe, who was paid around 80 million euros to Nice, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is currently second, for whom the London club spent around 64 million euros five and a half years ago.
