A 111th minute penalty sealed the win for Bandari over City Stars on Sunday aftternoon

Bandari overwrote their three-match losing streak under controversial circumstances but head coach Anthony ‘Modo’ Kimani was delighted with his boys' resilience to net the winner with virtually the last kick of the game.

The centre referee for the encounter that saw the Dockers beat Nairobi City Stars 2-1, Lucas Odhiambo awarded a contentious penalty in the 11th minute of stoppage time when Umaru Kasumba looked to have gone down under a soft challenge.

The decision left Simba wa Nairobi incensed with matters turning worse after Ugandan import William Wadri stepped up to take the penalty and held his nerve to ensure Bandari collected all three points.

Modo admitted that City Stars handed them a run for their money in the encounter but was delighted after his charges sealed the win with a last-gasp goal.

“The match was really tough. We expected City Stars to push us because they are a really good team but my boys kept their concentration for 90 minutes and we thank God that we were able to get victory.

We missed a number of chances in the first half because we lacked composure, if we are calm then we have a chance of utilising our chances. We rushed in a number of chances we created. "We rushed in a number of chances we created. In the second half we were more composed and we tried to create more chances which we still failed to take but at least in the final minute we were able to get the goal,” said Kimani.

Hassan Abdallah opened the scoring for Bandari in the 38th minute but Ezekiel Odera restored parity for City Stars at the stroke of the half time whistle.
