Besides the eight-game ban, the former Harambee Stars tactician has been suspended by the Tanzanian federation

Tanzania national football team head coach Adel Amrouche has talked himself into trouble after the Confederation of African Football (CAF)slapped him with an eight-match ban.

CAF’s Disciplinary Committee found the outspoken tactician guilty of making remarks that could potentially bring the game into disrepute.

Amrouche started to court trouble days before Tanzania’s opening game in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations where he made allegations against the Moroccan Federation.

According to a press statement by the Tanzanian federation, Amrouche he accused the Moroccan federation (FRMF) of ‘manipulating’ African football.

In the televised interview, Amrouche went on to claim that Morocco 'manages and determines everything in African football'.

The sentiments made by the tactician didn’t sit well with FRMF who lodged a formal complaint to CAF, leading to Amrouche’s interdiction.

Amrouche would be summoned by CAF’s Disciplinary Committee to defend his remarks and as part of the process involved before any sanctions are made.

Whilst in many cases the employer would side with his employee, the Tanzanian Federation (TFF) earlier on, distanced itself from the controversial remarks made by the Algerian manager.

Before the former USM Alger gaffer would process the news of his eight-game ban, TFF ripped his contract.

With Amrouche banned for eight games, TFF announced that his assistant Hemed Morocco will take over on an interim basis.

This is not the first time the former Burundi national team coach is running into trouble with CAF as he was suspended for a year back in 2014 for allegedly spitting on a reserve referee during Harambee Stars vs Lesotho match.
