The coach has three Women Premier League titles to his name.

Former Vihiga Queens gaffer Alex Alumirah has resigned as the head coach of Tanzanian side Tiger Queens Sports Academy to solely focus on his job at Harambee Starlets.

Alumirah was appointed as the Harambee Starlets head coach at the turn of the year when the side was gearing up for the Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifier against Uganda before federation wrangles ended Kenya’s dream of taking part in the tourney.

Tiger Queens released a statement on Wednesday evening confirming the departure of Alumirah and installed Ezekiel Chobanka as his replacement.

“The Tiger Queens Sports Academy wishes to announce the departure of their Head Coach , Alex Alumirah on mutual consent. Coach Alumirah requested to step down from the role of Head Coach to avoid conflicts of interest at the moment, given that he's the Kenya Women National Team head Coach.

The club thanks Coach Alex Alumirah for the dedication and the commitment he's shown during his time with Tigers. Owing to this development, the club’s management has elevated first assistant coach Ezekiel Chobanka to the position of the Head Coach.

Once again, the Tiger Queens will greatly miss coach Aldmirah and he will always be welcomed back any time in Future,” read a statement from Tigers.

Alumirah joined the Tanzanian outfit back in August 2021 from Vihiga Queens and penned a five-year-deal after securing three titles with the Vihiga-based side.

The experienced coach had initially ruled out a move to a Kenyan club until curtains come down on his tenure as the National Team head coach.
