Both players were injured during the Manchester City derby

Although the Reds played below their expectations at the Etihad and failed to create a serious opportunity in ninety last weekend, Liverpool managed to resist Manchester City and get a point. However, that point came with a heavy price, as two important players got injured and will be out for a while. At the conference before 5th round of the Europa League group stage, in which Liverpool will welcome LASK, Jurgen Klopp revealed that he will not be able to count on Alisson and Diogo Jota in the upcoming period. Both were injured in the game against City on Saturday. In particular, Alisson injured his hamstring at the end of the match and will be out of action for at least two weeks. Jota, on the other hand, expects a slightly longer break.

"Both are out. Alisson is a bit lesser, so we have to see. Not day by day, he cannot play tomorrow or Sunday and probably not the week after, should be kind of OK. Diogo will take a little bit longer, I don't know exactly. Have to see. We already have a lot of injured players. Thiago and Andy Robertson are out, now Diogo and Ali. That's massive. It would be great if nothing else would happen, but that's unlikely. We have to share the intensity between the group" said Klopp at the press conference. The fact that Alisson has the highest percentage of shots saved in the Premier League shows how good his current season is, and how important is he in Klopp's team. The Brazilian 'tamed' 81.5 percent of the opponent's shots, and his closest companions are Andre Onana (77.3) and Nick Pope (75).

In Alisson's absence, Caoimhin Kelleher will step up between the posts. The Irish goalie was certainly planned as a starter in tomorrow's game against the team from Linz, but after the news of his colleague's injury, he will have more chances to prove himself, especially since in the next two weeks - while Alisson will be absent - the Reds have five games, two in the Europa League (LASK, Union Saint-Giloise) and three more in the Premier League (Fulham, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace).

"Caoimhin will get the chance he deserves. He would definitely play on Thursday, but now he will get a few more games and he will be able to show his full potential" added Klopp. This season, Kelleher defended in five games, three in the Europa League and two in the League Cup, and never kept a clean sheet.
