It is expected that the talks concerning a contract extension will begin soon

According to talkSPORT, Al-Nassr is keen to keep Cristiano Ronaldo for another year. The Portuguese's current contract expires next June, and the Saudis would like to extend it until June 2026. This way, they would keep their biggest star, while the eventual stay in Saudi Arabia could help Cristiano remain competitive for the 2026 World Cup.

Ronaldo is 39, and the eventual contract extension would mean he would play for Al-Nassr at the age of 41! However, after Portugal's elimination from the EURO 2024, CR7 claimed he wanted to be there for the national team and lead the Navigators with the captain's armband at another major tournament, referring to the next World Cup. Although Cristiano didn't have any severe injuries and his body is at an incredible level, he would still have to remain competitive and in good shape, football-wise, to make an impact in Canada, the USA, and Mexico in two years. Al-Nassr could secure him that.

On the other hand, the Saudi side hasn't won a trophy since 2020, when they won the Super Cup. They have been waiting for the Saudi Pro League triumph since 2019, while they won their last King's Cup back in 1990. Everyone around the club wants to get back on the trophy path, and for that, they need to keep their best players like Sadio Mane, Talisca, Marcelo Brozovic, and, of course, Ronaldo in the first place. Last season, the Portuguese recorded as many as 44 goals and 13 assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, proving that he still has what it takes to lead Al-Nassr to the trophies.
