Akida joins Greek champions PAOK

Kenyan international Esse Akida penned a one and a half year deal on Friday 16 July to Greek champions PAOK Thessaloniki Women on a free transfer.

Akida joins the Greek giants from Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Women Premier League champions Thika Queens following an outstanding season.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Akida’s media team confirmed that the deal is done and dusted as she is set to unite with the team at the end of the month.

“Asse has signed a one and half years, she is set to join the side at the end of the month with the team currently pitching camp in Bulgaria,”

“She will play in the Champions League after the team won the Greek league last season, Asse had another deal in Finland but decided to settle on the PAOK deal,” said the media team.

The move comes barely a week after former AFC Leopards midfielder Collins Shichenje completed a move to PAOK Thessaloniki men's side.

Asse signed a six-month deal with Thika Queens back in March after parting ways with Turkish giants Besiktas and also featured in a number of Champions League games for the side.

The Harambee Starlets forward had an impressive season with Thika towards the tail end of the campaign as he scored in the semi-finals of the Women’s Premier League Nakuru Queens.

She then bagged a brace in the finals against Gaspo as they reclaimed the title they won in 2017.

Asse’s minutes in the regular season was limited as she nursed a knee injury but has returned back to her devastating best.
