Egypt boss Carlos Queiroz pours cold water on warrior Eto'o and his comments
A big, big game is coming up. Africa Cup of Nations semi-final between hosts Cameroon and Egypt is a mouth-watering prospect for the people of the two countries, but also for the rest of the football-loving people around the world. The prospect of seeing two in-form teams with their sights on the big trophy is enough to get everyone fired up. Perhaps even a bit too much.

"Words like fear don't exist in our football dictionary, what exists is respect .
We know of Cameroon's goal scoring threat but our strategy for tomorrow is run run run ,play play play
And we hope to do that better than Cameroon."#AFCON2021 #TeamEgypt pic.twitter.com/P2btTgjrHW
Samuel Eto'o, the Cameroonian legend, compared the upcoming game to a war between the two countries. And although many would see no problem in describing a football match in such a manner, Carlos Queiroz, the Egypt coach, didn't like it at all.
"It's a very unfortunate comment, a very bad approach, a very bad message to the people of Cameroon. To make this declaration of war before one game shows he didn't learn anything when he was in professional football. Football is not about war. Football is about celebration, it's about joy, it's about happiness."

With people dying in bloody clashes in some parts of his country, Eto'o should have known better than to talk about some war that's supposedly going to unfold on Thursday night.
"To the war that was proposed by Mr Eto'o - we are going to answer with the best football, the best attitude, the best quality because this what the people expect from us. This is what the world wants - the Africa Cup of Nations to create honour, dignity - it cannot be a war - give me a break. I think it is something I will leave to CAF because one comment like this deserves a red card."

The 68-year-old former Manchester United and Real Madrid coach called for the former Barcelona, Inter and Chelsea striker to reconsider his choice of words and retract them as soon as possible.
"I am making an appeal to Mr Eto'o, who played professional football, to correct his words because this cannot be a war."
