AFC Leopards captain Robinson Kamura has delivered a heartfelt message to Anthony Kimani who is leaving Ingwe.
With Anthony Kimani departing AFC Leopards, skipper Robinson Kamura has penned a heartfelt message to the gaffer who he idolized as a kid.
Kimani popularly known by his moniker Modo took charge of his last game as the Ingwe coach in the Mashemeji Derby against arch-rivals Gor Mahia on Sunday afternoon.
Modo leaves his post as the interim head coach with Belgian tactician Patrick Aussems taking over the reins and is expected to be on the touchline on Saturday 13 February in the FKF Cup match against Taita Taveta All Stars in Wundanyi.
Kamura took to Facebook to thank Modo for the impact he has had on his footballing career since his days at Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) to Ingwe.
“Sad to see you leave us. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be coached by you. At MYSA you were our role model, your generation gave us the right direction, you not only played for Mathare United FC, but you also won the premier league in 2008 as the captain and that was our motivation for us, academy players, at that time,"
“I have been a ball boy for you while Mathare united was playing. It was a dream come true to be coached by my role model and to be your captain too. A father figure to us in this industry.” wrote Kamura.
Speculations surround the future of Kimani with some quarters claiming that he is set to join Mathare United while some noting that he is set to travel abroad to acquire his coaching badges.
The former Mathare United defender wished Modo all the best on his future work station as it is now laid bare that the coach has left Ingwe as rumours flew around that he might be retained as the assistant.
“You gave us hope and we believed we can get anything through hard work. Thank you for the guidance and knowledge my coach, I can only wish you all the best in your endeavours Coach Modo,” he added.
With both of them playing as central defenders, it is clear to see why Kamura held Modo in high regard.
