The former Team Manager rose to his position last year, following the dismissal of Victor Bwibo

FKF Premier League side AFC Leopards have formally announced the exit of their Chief Executive Officer Albert Wesonga, following the expiry of his contract.

Wesonga, who only served in an acting capacity, was appointed as Ingwe CEO on 16 October 2023, with reports indicating that he was to be in office for a period of six-months.

He however overstayed that timeline, and now vacates the position over a year later, with the club letter sent out on Saturday morning indicating that he was “not authorized to transact any business on behalf of AFC Leopards, or represent it in any capacity.”

The club’s ‘public notice’ further read: “AFC Leopards shall not accept any liability arising from his actions.”

There were no details provided on who was taking over the position, but sources stated that the club had earlier this year publicly advertised the position for interested candidates.

Wesonga, who earlier worked as AFC Leopards’ Team Manager, was elevated to the CEO position following the dismissal of Victor Bwibo.

This is after the latter had overseen a disastrous start to the 2023-24 Football Kenya Premier League (FKFPL) season, where the Leopards remained winless after six matches.

Bwibo had been at the den for five years (since 2018) and had taken over from Jacob Abisai, whose contract with the club had come to an end.

Wesonga, before joining AFC Leopards, served as CEO of the now-defunct Dandora Love.

Meanwhile, Ingwe’s weekend game against Mara Sugar has officially been rescheduled to a later date, with the club confirming that an announcement on the same will be made in “due course.”
