The former Gor Mahia midfielder failed to play for Moroka Swallows despite signing a two-year deal.

Over the years few Kenyans have been able to crack the South African Premier Soccer League with Kevin 'Ade' Omondi also joining the list following his unsuccessful stint at Moroka Swallows.

The few Kenyans who have enjoyed success in South Africa include Musa Otieno, Brain Mandela and Anthony Akumu but even the latter has enjoyed limited playtime and a plethora of criticism.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Ade who spent four months in South Africa on trials with Swallows noted that many other players from different countries struggle in their league.

“I would not say it is only Kenyans, many players from different countries struggle to adapt there because I think foreigners are not handed a warm welcome there,” noted Ade.

The former Gor Mahia midfielder left without playing for Swallows despite signing a two-year deal as he struggled to obtain a work permit.

Ade who is currently clubless had interests from Bloemfontein Celtic, Ajax Cape Town and Cape Town City but visa issues complicated the moves.

A number of Kenyans including Ovella Ochieng, Eugene Asike, Clifton Miheso, Ali Abondo, Paul Were, Joseph Okumu have not enjoyed success in South Africa.

The midfielder who nursed a niggly knee injury last season also weighed in on the current situation at Harambee Stars opining that politics and football do not mix.

“If you are a good player you always want to play for the National Team and I can say that God blessed me to play for Harambee Stars and it was a good experience,”

“Right now there is a lot of politics but I hope things will be okay because football and politics do not go hand in hand,” added Ade.
