Debutants Mara Sugar will play Kakamega Homeboyz in their first game of the season

Gor Mahia will launch their title defense against FC Talanta when the 2024-2025 Football Kenya Federation Premier League gets underway on August 24.

K’Ogalo will take on Talanta on August 26 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, according to the fixtures released on Saturday by the league body.

Gor retained the league title last season, stretching their tally to 21, and will head to the new season looking to extend their dominance.

This will be Talanta’s fifth season in the top tier and will hope to put up a mighty fight and finish inside the top half of the log.

For the first time since their promotion to the top tier, Talanta will be handled by a different manager following the exit of Kenneth Kenyatta.

Gor’ fiercest rivals AFC Leopards will kick off the season with a clash against returnees Mathare United at Dandora Stadium.

Twelve-time champions Tusker are scheduled to tackle the 2009 winners Sofapaka in Machakos.

Debutants Mara Sugar will play the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz in their first match at the top tier.

According to the fixtures, Mara will host their home matches at the Awendo Green Stadium, signaling the return of top-flight matches to the facility.

Reigning cup champions Kenya Police will open the season against Nairobi City Stars while Shabana will take on Posta Rangers.

The first leg of the Mashemeji Derby will be held on November 24 with Ingwe being the host.

Gor will host the second leg on April 6.

Meanwhile, clubs will have to scramble for the few available facilities following the closure of Nyayo and Kasarani stadia.

Bukhungu and the Mbaraki facilities will also not be available due to the ongoing renovations.
