Kenyan long-distance runner Sharon Lokedi will aim to win a rare Boston double when she lines up for the 2025 Boston 10K marathon scheduled for Sunday, 22 June.
The 31-year-old, who earlier this year stunned the world with a Boston Marathon course record 2:17:22, will get back to the same city, hoping to collect her first prize there in the shorter distance.

Lokedi’s previous appearance in the event came back in 2019, when she finished fifth in a time of 32:05.
Her personal best in the distance stands at 31:04, which she set in New York last year.
Speaking on her return to Bay State for the first time since April, Lokedi said: “Winning the Boston Marathon is a highlight of my career so far. I’m excited to return to Boston to race the 10K and relive the same feeling from the marathon.”
Apart from recollecting the good memories, Lokedi will also look to improve on her fifth-place showing at the New York Mini 10K just two weeks ago.
Billed as a sequel to her clash with Hellen Obiri in the Boston Marathon, the 2022 New York marathon champion finished outside the podium places, timing 31:13.
Her quest to turn the tables will not be made any easier on Sunday, as she comes up against a loaded field that has fellow Kenyan Sheila Chepkirui, who is the fastest woman in the field with a personal best time of 29:46.
This year’s pro field lineup for the #Boston10K presented by @BrighamWomens features Boston Champ Sharon Lokedi, U.S. Olympic marathoners Emily Sisson & Fiona O’Keeffe, & Paralympic medalists Daniel Romanchuk & Tatyana McFadden!🤩

Chepkirui, who was third in the Boston 10k three years ago, is also on hot form, having won the TCS New York City Marathon in 2024 and the Nagoya Women’s Marathon earlier this year.
Ethiopia’s defending champion Melknat Wudu will also be in the mix, as will be Senayet Getachew, who was third in last year’s race.
The evergreen two-time Boston Marathon champion Edna Kiplagat will also be in contention, together with 2017 Boston 10K winner Joan Melly.
