The fourth-place Paris Olympics finisher has posted a spectacular start to her 2025 season, winning three of the four races she has started.
Her first race of the year was a 1:07:04 victory at the United Airlines New York Half in March. She followed it up with victory at the Boston Marathon, where she clocked 2:17:22 to deny compatriot Hellen Obiri a three-peat.
Obiri made sure not to be beaten twice as the duo met again at the New York Mini 10K, clocking 30:44 as Lokedi finished fifth in 31:13 for her first loss of the season.
Two weeks later, the 31-year-old returned to Boston for her second 10K of the season, timing 31:39, denying yet another Kenyan, Gladys Kwamboka, who was given a similar finishing time as Lokedi.
While eyes are on Athletics Kenya (AK) ahead of the team naming for this year’s Tokyo World Championship, many are hoping the 2022 New York Marathon champion would make Team Kenya to the global competition but Lokedi is coy about her next move.
“I don’t know the races planned for this summer, but maybe in the fall we will start thinking of doing a few half marathons.
I ran the last two to get back into rhythm after the Boston Marathon, then plan for the rest of the season,” she offered when asked where she would be racing next after the 10K victory.
A two-time World Marathon Majors (WMM) champion, Lokedi, who has raced the toughest of the Majors, is not opposed to chasing a quicker personal best (PB).
“I have a desire to run a flat marathon. I do not have details now, but it is in the pipeline,” she concluded.

Of the remaining four WMM, Berlin Marathon, set for Sunday, 21 September, known for its flat and fast course, with a minimal elevation gain of around 25m, would be the go-to race for the Kenyan. It has been the site of numerous world records.
Her next option would be the Chicago Marathon, set for Sunday, 12 October, as Sydney and New York are relatively hilly.
