The race comes a week before the Racers Grand Prix, an annual track meet held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, where Omanyala will take in the likes of Noah Lyles

Commonwealth Games 100m champion and Africa's record holder Ferdinand Omanyala is in action tonight (11pm EAT) at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon.

Omanyala, who opened his outdoor campaign this season with a fifth-place finish at the Kip Keino Classic, is chasing his first win in the distance this season against a formidable field led by Christian Coleman

This is also his first Diamond League (DL) appearance. In his last 100m race at the Atlanta City Games, the 28-year-old clocked 10.00 seconds for second place on a race won by arch-rival Akani Simbine in a world leading time of 9.90 seconds.

Coleman, on his part, is looking to get back to winning ways following his second-place finish at the Shanghai DL.

He started his 100m campaign at the Diamond League Meeting in Xiamen with a win.

Also on the field is Jamaica’s Ackeem Blake who finished second at the Miramar Invitational before finishing third in the Xiamen DL. He was fifth in Shanghai.

Others included in the field are Benjamin Azamati, the American duo of Brandon Hicklin and Brandon Carnes with another Jamaican, Sandrey Davison, also included in the field.

The race comes a week before the Racers Grand Prix, an annual track meet held at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica, where Omanyala will take in the likes of Noah Lyles
