If the hints are anything to go by, fans might not have to wait long for this dream race to become a reality

The much-anticipated clash between Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and NFL speedster Tyreek Hill might be closer to reality than fans expected.

On his podcast Beyond the Records, Lyles, joined by fellow Olympians Rai Benjamin and Grant Holloway, dropped tantalizing hints about the potential race, sparking a wave of speculation.

The episode offered more than just chatter, with Holloway himself expressing interest in taking on another NFL star, D.K. Metcalf, in a 40-yard dash.

"Grant, would you race D.K. Metcalf?" Lyles asked his co-host.

Holloway responded without hesitation: “Of course. DK, you probably don’t know me, but I’m a huge fan. You’re on my fantasy team, so keep doing your thing. But hey, let’s do it, man. If Noah’s going to do Tyreek... I’ll take the undercard with you. I think it’d be good.”

Benjamin chimed in, suggesting the perfect venue for these matchups: "I feel like it would be good to do it at the All-Star Weekend."

Lyles’ sly smile that followed hinted at plans already in motion.

“I’m already giving too much information. The best I can say is, it’d be very Mike Tyson-Jake Paul type,” Lyles teased.

Benjamin also floated the idea of hosting the event during the NFL Pro Bowl—set to take place in Orlando, Florida, on February 2, 2025, further leaving fans guessing.

The prospect of a crossover between track and football stars is enticing.

A head-to-head race between Lyles, the reigning men’s 100-meter Olympic champion, and Hill, often touted as the NFL’s fastest player, would be a spectacle sure to attract massive viewership, possibly eclipsing the Pro Bowl games themselves.

Lyles has previously made his stance clear on such a race.

In a past interview with NBC News, he stated, “I mean, if somebody wants to sponsor the event and we’re racing for millions of dollars and it’s on a track and we’re running 100 meters, then sure, we can race. But it has to be legit. I’m not here to do giggles. You’re racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man,’ and you’ve worked to be a great football player. You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player.”

The idea of packaging the event as a “Tyson-Jake-type” spectacle with undercards such as Holloway versus Metcalf or even a matchup like Christian Coleman versus Xavier Worthy adds another layer of excitement.

However, whether such an event is realistic remains to be seen. If the hints are anything to go by, fans might not have to wait long for this dream race to become a reality.
