The F1 great also revealed how he draws inspiration from Kipchoge.

Record seven time Formula 1 World Driver Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton has sent world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge a best wish message that the Kenyan athlete termed as a big surprise ahead of his fourth appearance at the 2022 Berlin Marathon taking place on Sunday 25 September.

Kipchoge, the double Olympic marathon champion, will be returning to the track where he made his debut in 2013 as he takes part in his fourth race since then seeking to become just the second man in history after Ethiopia’s Haile Gebrselassie to win a fourth Gold medal.

In a video message, Hamilton, who recently visited Kenya during the midseason break in the 2022 Formula 1 season, conveyed his wishes as he revealed how he draws inspiration from Kipchoge who remains to be the only athlete in history to run a marathon under two hours.

“Hi Eliud, I just wanted to send you a message wishing you all the best in your future endeavors. I know you have a huge target coming up at the Berlin marathon. I will be watching closely.

Really inspired by how you continue to push and show that there are no limits except for the ones we put in our minds. So keep dreaming big and keep pushing. Good luck and I wish you all the best,” Hamilton said.

In reaction, Kipchoge revealed how Hamilton is one of the athletes who inspire him as he showed his appreciation for the lovely touch shown by Hamilton.

“Wow! That is a big surprise. Lewis Hamilton is an athlete who has always inspired me. Receiving a message of support from him means a lot to me,” Kipchoge posted.
