After the two-day global event, Korir says she will shift her focus to Olympics.
In her second trip in Kenyan colours, her first outside the continent, 22-year old Naomi Korir has expressed optimism in helping the 2x2x400m Kenyan team achieve good results at the World Relays Championships that gun off on Saturday, May 1, at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzow, Poland.
Korir, is part of the Kenyan team that will feature in the 2x2x400m race, a discipline that made its debut during the last edition of the championships and says the showpiece has the potential to shape her budding track career.
The 800m specialist is set to team up with the trio of world 800m bronze medalist Ferguson Rotich, Commonwealth 800m champion Wycliffe Kinyamal and Emily Cherotich.
“It will be my first assignment with the national team outside of Africa. Having an opportunity to compete alongside senior athletes like Ferguson, Emily and Kinyamal is an honour. I assure Kenyans that I will strive for the best," Korir told Golazo Kenya, her stable, after landing in Poland.
"We're here in Silesia, it is a bit cold I must admit, but we have had good preparations which I believe will enable us fight as a team to bring success to our nation. It will also be my chance to gain experience at the global stage,” she added.
Korir will be making her second appearance in Kenyan colours after making her debut for the national team at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco where she failed to make it past semis largely owing to her inexperience.
