Kip Keino Classic: Abraham Kibiwott defends steeplechase title

He set the world leading time in the distance this year, going faster than Serem's 8:22.72 from 6 March in Nairobi

World bronze medalist Abraham Kibiwott, dominated once again at KipKeino Classic clinching his third consecutive victory in the men's 3000m steeplechase.

Kibiwott who stayed with the leading pack that also had former World U20 champion Amos Serem, unleashing a powerful kick for a World leading time of 8:20.54.

The Commonwealth Games champion led a Kenyan sweep of the podium in the closely contested race, reaching the finish line with enough time to salute the crown and celebrate his third title by gesturing the number to the crowd.

Serem came in second in 8:21:40 while Matthew Kosgei completed the podium with a personal best of 8:23:84.

Wesley Langat and Lawrence Kipsang claimed fourth and fifth positions in 8:26:04 and 8:26:62 respectively.
