Commonwealth 10,000m bronze medalist Kibiwott Kandie has reclaimed the Valencia Half Marathon title after clocking 0:58:11 on Sunday morning.
The Kenya Defence Forces runner had won the title in 2020 setting a world record over the distance after timing 57:32, a time that was lowered the following year by Uganda's Jacob Kiplimo during last year's Lisbon Half Marathon.
Kandie cut the tape ahead of the 2019 World Athletics Championships 10,000m silver medalist Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia who stopped the clock after fifty eight minutes and thirty two seconds.
Daniel Mateiko bagged bronze after coming in third in 0:58:40. The Kenyan took the bronze while under pressure from the 2020 World U20 Championships 3,000m champion Tadese Worku of Ethiopia.
Kenyan athletes sealed the remaining seven slots in the top ten bracket, recording impressive times, an indication of how competitive the race was.
The reigning Re-discover Nandi road race champion Weldon Langat who represented the country in the Tokyo Olympics finished tenth after crossing the line in 1:00:28.
While Kenyan men were in a class of their own, the ladies' missed the podium places as German national Konstanz Klosterhalfen won the race after clocking 1:05:41.
Tsigie Gebreselama of Ethiopia came in second in 1:05:46 ahead of her compatriot Hawi Gejia who settled for bronze after timing 1:06:00.
Agnes Mumbua was the best performing Kenyan athlete in the field as he finished fourth in 1:06:38 with Margaret Chelimo placing fifth in 1:06:50.
