
Kenyans dominate Milan, Berlin Marathons

Chepkirui broke one of many course records that have tumbled on a busy Sunday of racing across the world.
On his marathon debut, Titus Kipruto clocked 2.05.05 to win the Milano marathon, leading a Kenyan 1-2 finish.
Daniel Kibet timed 2.05.20 for second place while Tanzanian elite runner Alphonce Felix Simbu clocked 2.06.20 to compete the podium places in the men's event.

In the women's race, Vivian Kiplagat clocked 2:20.17 for gold ahead of the Ethiopian duo of Sintauehu Getahun who finished more than two minutes behind in 2:22.20 and Atalel Dargie who finished two seconds later in 2:22.20.
Meawhile, Sheila Chepkirui produced the performance of the day, breaking the course record of the Generali berlin half marathon.

Despite very cold conditions with almost freezing temperatures at the start she clocked a world-class time of 65:02 to lead a Kenyan sweep as Joyce Chepkemoi and Irene Kimais took second and third with 65:50 and 66:34 respectively.
The men’s race was also dominated by Kenyans as Alex Kibet won in 58:55, missing the course record by only 13 seconds. Joshua Belet was second in 59:53 while pre-race favourite Abel Kipchumba finished third with 59:58.
