The news, circulating more like a whisper than a formal announcement, has stunned fans, especially in Jamaica, where many hoped to see her continue gracing the lanes in future global events.
But as the saying goes, some things are best left between husband and wife.
And yes, the husband-to-be in question is Noah Lyles, the American sprint sensation and reigning Olympic 100m champion.
The two have been in a public yet deeply personal love story that has blossomed both on and off the track over the past three years.
If retirement means trading medals for memories and starting a new chapter beside one of the fastest men on the planet, Bromfield seems more than content.
The couple’s love story has been nothing short of spectacular. Their first interaction dates back to 2017 when Bromfield slid into Lyles’ DMs. It was not until 2022 that they turned friendship into romance.
That initial social media message, sent nearly five years ago, ended up being the opening line in what is now a golden love tale.
Fast forward to Sunday, 13 October 2024, after a stunning performance at the Paris Olympics, where Lyles clinched the coveted 100m gold medal, he capped his historic moment with an unforgettable proposal.
Under the soft glow of a lit-up “Will you marry me?” sign and surrounded by close friends, Lyles got down on one knee and proposed to his Jamaican sweetheart.
The bronze medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics said yes, sealing a romance and a partnership.
They haveve often spoken about the foundation of their relationship: resilience, understanding, and standing by each other through both victory laps and hard times.
Now, with Bromfield shifting her focus away from competition, she is happily embracing her role as Lyles’ number one fan, cheerleader, and partner for life.
And while it is the end of one era for her, it marks the beginning of another, full of love, legacy, and perhaps motherhood in the cards.
