This is the first time since 2016 that Kipchoge will be competing in any other race apart from the marathon

After an underwhelming Paris Olympics, marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge is set to make a comeback on the roads, this time over a shorter distance; the 10km race.

This is the first time since 2016 that Kipchoge will be competing in any other race apart from the marathon.

The 39-year-old will participate in the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2024 (ATMBKK2024)10km mass run following an ambassadorial agreement he inked with the Asian country.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand, under its Amazing Thailand campaign recently unveiled an exciting new partnership with Kipchoge and the NN Running Team.

The collaboration seeks to position Thailand as the leading running destination in Asia, in line with Kipchoge’s global vision to inspire a “running world.”

This partnership will see both Kipchoge and his NN Running Team engage deeply with Thailand’s running community. The team, known for their dominance in global marathon races, will visit Thailand, where they will share expertise with local athletes and promote sustainable marathon training.

They aim to foster a running culture in Thailand and connect with the fast-developing Asian running market.

“I have frequently travelled to Asia and share the great ambitions of growing athletics as a sport that makes people happier and healthier.

There is tremendous potential in the world of Asian athletics, and I am happy to start working with Amazing Thailand to promote it in the Asian region,” Kipchoge stated.

For Kipchoge, running in Thailand is a step toward his larger mission of transforming the world into a community of runners.

“I have always said that I want to make this world a world of runners because a world of runners is a happy world and this partnership contributes to my ambitions,” he said.

He will join 33,000 runners to motivate and encourage them.

The collaboration between Amazing Thailand and the NN Running Team represents a major opportunity for Thailand to gain international recognition in the running community.

The partnership comes following disappointing performances in 2024, where earlier in the year, Kipchoge had to settle for tenth place at the Tokyo Marathon.

The two-time Olympic champion also competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he sought an unprecedented third consecutive gold medal in the marathon.

However, he fell short of that goal, failing to finish after developing hip issues. Despite that, he is undoubtedly the greatest marathon runner to have ever existed.
