Kenyan marathoner Amos Kipruto concluded his season on a high note after completing the podium at the Chicago Marathon with a remarkable time of 2:04:50.
This third-place performance comes after a challenging few years marked by a tendon tear in 2020 and several other setbacks.
Despite his struggles, Kipruto finished the season injury-free and is gradually returning to peak form.
Reflecting on his race, the 2019 World Marathon bronze medalist expressed satisfaction with his podium finish, noting that his hard work and dedication fueled his comeback.
“Another Abbott World Marathon Majors marathon, another podium third place in a time of 2.04.50, at Bank of America Chicago Marathon. It’s a testament to the journey of bouncing back from a long and bothersome knee injury,” he posted on his Facebook page.
He went ahead to extend gratitude to his support system, including his coach, physio team, and sponsors for their unwavering faith in his abilities.
“Big hugs and thanks to my family, my training mates, and a special thanks to my sponsor Adidas Running, and my management Demadonna Athletic Promotions for the trust you have in me,” he added.
For Kipruto, his performance in Chicago served as a hopeful preview of what he aims to achieve next season. He hinted at his determination to dominate next year.
“This performance is proof that I am slowly bouncing back and will be back to take what belongs to me next season,” Kipruto said, hinting at his determination to dominate in the coming year.
The 2022 London Marathon champion also took a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of his fellow Kenyan athletes, Ruth Chepng’etich and John Korir, who clinched the women's and men’s titles
“Big congratulations to my friends John and Ruth for their incredible work,” he concluded.
This year, Kipruto raced only once before the Chicago Marathon, where he finished third in the 10K Port Gentil.
